John Terrell Wortman of North Little Rock, Arkansas was called home by his Lord and Saviour on March 18, 2026 at the age of 77.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joan "Joanie" Gough Wortman; and is survived by his son, John "J.T." Wortman II (Jennifer) and daughter Kerrie Zarate (Juan). He is also survived by his two grandsons Carter and Decker Wortman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estell Terrell Wortman and Esther Shumaker.
John honorably served in the U.S. Army and is a distinguished Vietnam Veteran, having been awarded the following military honors: the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his Vietnam service, he completed a carpentry school, becoming a skilled builder and craftsman who used his expertise within the Veterans Affairs Hospital System. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years of service as a letter carrier.
In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding 4 wheelers, and spending time with his grandsons.
Visitation will be at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, on Monday, March 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Military Honors will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, March 31, at 1:00 p.m.

I worked with John at the VA before he went to work at the post office.His knowledge and work ethic was impressive.His sense of humor stellar.He had a nack for studying people a recognizing humor in them and nicknaming them.Always a good guy great stories.We will miss him.

My friend John,once you met him the colorfull guy he was,you won't ever forget him, always loved to hear the stories of the hunting and fishing days he'd esp, after his kids tagged along with him,and his vast knowledge of guns and ammo.Also the Postal stories during his tenure at the post office,will see later ole soul …
