of Subiaco, AR
March 12, 1943 - March 16, 2026
Charles A. Lux, (Charlie) 83, of Subiaco, Arkansas passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Paris, Arkansas. He was born on March 12, 1943 in Paris to his parents, Emil and Theresa (Strobel) Lux.
Charlie served in the United States Navy from 1961-1965 on the USS Intrepid. After serving his country he went to work for Southwestern Bell where he would meet the love of his life, Schawnnee Davis who he would later marry on October 12, 1968. In 1972 he took over the Lux Tavern from his father and uncle which he ran for the next 11 years. While owning the tavern, Charlie served multiple terms as mayor of Subiaco, which involved wearing multiple hats - water department manager, park maintenance, and whatever else was needed. Working with other leaders of the community, Charlie was instrumental in bringing one of the first wastewater sewage lagoon systems in the state of Arkansas to Subiaco. After selling the tavern in 1983 Charlie started his trucking career. His trucking business consisted of two trucks and a few trailers in which he hauled supplies and fertilizer for the Farmers Co-op in Subiaco and Clarksville. He later went on to haul for Tyson Foods and River Valley Animal Foods from which he retired. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed reading, fishing with family and friends, and traveling with his wife. He could always be found piddling in his shop, fixing just about anything, and working with Schawnnee in their garden. He was always a loyal friend and a great storyteller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Theresa (Strobel) Lux.
He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Schawnnee (Davis) Lux of Subiaco; one daughter, Leigh Ann Frederick of Subiaco; one son, Marc Lux and wife Jamie of Fort Smith; two sisters, Roseanne Furner of Fort Smith and Patricia ''Pat'' Woodward of Fort Smith; and three grandchildren, Mary Kate Lux, Meg Lux, and Charley Beth Frederick.
A memorial rosary service will begin at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco. The family will visit with friends 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after the rosary.

Charlie was a great friend and neighbor throughout grammar and high school. We went to CYO
meetings, played pinball machines and ping pong together, went to Hill Top Cafe to listen to the
juke box, and to Paris for an ice cream cone. He was just the best friend a person could have.
RIP, Charlie, old friend. You are missed.

Rest in peace my friend ! We made lots of good memories back in our Navy days.
My condolences to your family!!!
Sending my love

Charlie was such a good friend to my dad and many others. Many memories were made and stories told by the group of men that visited at Beetle's house every Sunday morning. God bless!
