Nona Ruth Thompson

of Wilson, AR

June 22, 1955 - March 6, 2026

Nona Ruth Thompson of Wilson, Arkansas received her ultimate healing when she went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was born on June 22,1955, in her hometown of Wilson, to Robert Elton and Mary Elizabeth Thompson. Nona graduated from Rivercrest High School in 1973. She then began working in the bookkeeping department at The Bank of Wilson in August of 1973. With the change to American State Bank then to Bancorpsouth, Nona continued diligently working behind the scenes to help and train employees. She especially enjoyed working in the lending department of the bank where she met, was respected and loved by all customers and coworkers. She became the Vice President of Bancorpsouth and continued in this position until her retirement in 2020. She was noted for her knowledge and helpfulness during her time at the bank.

Nona is survived by her niece, Connie Couch, as well as her best friend, Lester Byford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary, her brother, Robert Elton Thompson, Jr, her sisters, Ileen Thompson Glosson and Glynda Marie Thompson, and her nephew, Ronn Glosson.

Nona loved her job, her community, her family, her church, Jesus, and of course, her cats and dogs. She also loved to stay home and work puzzles, do word searches, decorate her yard for every holiday, and take care of her animals.

Nona is so loved and will be greatly missed by many, but she is right where she wants to be, with her loving Savior, Jesus Christ and all her loved ones she has so greatly missed.

Nona, I will miss you. I haven't seen you in a long time, but I use to see you all the time. I didn't know you were sick. You look so different in your picture, I wouldn't have known you. I know you are with Jesus and that helps me feel better. I will see you again friend. RIP
