January 28, 1942 - February 23, 2026
Jerry D. Rose, 84, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at White River Medical Center on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was born on January 28, 1942, to the late James B. Rose and Dorothy Campbell Rose. He graduated from Bruno High School in 1959 and attended Arkansas State Junior College at Beebe and later Arkansas State Teachers College (now UCA) on a basketball scholarship. He met his wife of 64 years, Charlotte Bradberry Rose at junior college in Beebe, and they were married on August 5, 1961. Following graduation from ASTC, he began a career in education that lasted 42 years. As his former player, J.D. Morgan told his family, ''the profound impact of his coaching and administrative legacy lives on in the lives he touched''. During his educational career he was a Marked Tree Indian, a Clinton Yellowjacket, a Batesville Pioneer, a Newark Kangaroo, and Sulphur Rock Wildcat.
Jerry loved the Lord and left a legacy of faith to his family. He also loved camping and being on the lake with his family, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks, watching his grandkids play sports, traveling in his motorhome, and being outside (usually mowing or washing cars).
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; his daughters Melanie (Theron) Isaacs of Ash Flat and Lindley (Jeff) Hagar of Sherwood; grandchildren Alexandra (Adam) Sanders of Farmington, Hope (Preston) Wiles of Beebe, Tate (Kaylee) Isaacs of Walnut Ridge, Justin (Haley) Hagar of Searcy, and Landon Hagar and Hayden Hagar both of Conway; great-grandchildren Audrey, Laney, Harper, Jase, Wrenley, and Peyton; siblings Pat (Carla) Rose of Conway, Judy (Randy) Noah of North Little Rock, and Jill (Matt) Turner of Gilmer, Texas; brother-in-law Raysel (Beth) Bradberry of Beebe; special cousins Patsy Bailey and Janette Pratt of Harrison; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents Ernie and Nora Campbell and Ira and Eula Rose.
Special thanks to Pauletta Magness who has provided care and support for Jerry and his family over the last several years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 2:00 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville with burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Beebe. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Justin, Landon, and Hayden Hagar, Tate Isaacs, Adam Sanders, and Preston Wiles.

…how's about a ''shout out'' for Coach Rose and his family, from an ole Marked Tree Indian…60 years, ''down-the-pike''. It hurts to say goodbye, but I'd like to acknowledge Coach's family, and to wish them all good. Ruel ''Tony'' Huddleston

Charlotte Melanie and Lindley. So sorry for your loss. He was always such a good man. Your families will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Enjoyed being neighbors with Mr. and Mrs. Rose. We will miss seeing him working in his yard and sitting on the front porch in the afternoons. Prayers for your family.

Jerry was everything I wanted to be when I met him as a little boy. Big, strong, confident...and, he had a car! In fact, it was Jerry's love of cars that first introduced me to a life of prayer. I never knew just how fast a Chevrolet could go on a dirt road until Jerry educated me and my cousins on the dirt road from the house to Bruno. I learned to pray real prayers that day...and, I haven't stopped yet. Since that day I have always loved fast cars. And, I keep them clean. Just not as clean as Jerry did. Precious memories...how they linger.

Batesville & Independence county has lost a legendary influence for good in our community with the passing of Jerry Rose. He has held a special place for our family for many years. He & Charlotte have always been a great Pop & Nana for our shared grandchildren & great grandchildren. Continued prayers for the family.

So sorry for your loss. Praying for strength and that God will see you through this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss! I enjoyed Knowing Jerry During the time he spent at Sulphur Rock!

Mr. Rose will long be remembered and we were fortunate to have know him. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Condolences to the Rose family, in particular his daughter, Melanie, and grandson, Tate Isaacs. I did not personally know Mr. Rose, but I always heard what a great coach and man he was! I remember seeing him play basketball when ASU--Beebe played Southern Baptist College.

Coach Jerry Rose was my girls' basketball coach at Clinton High School decades ago. As a coach, he was without flaw. He never raised his voice, I remember starting the day, first period, with basketball. He was also my second period history teacher. He was tough, but always very fair. I thought very highly of Coach Rose, as well as his wife. My dad was school superintendent, and my mother was a home economics teacher. They were friends with Coach Rose and with his wife. He was pretty much perfect in my young eyes. I am so grateful that I knew Coach Rose and his family. Toran Pate Isom
