Rebecca Jane Quallsof Little Rock, AR
September 19, 1937 - February 6, 2026
Rebecca Jane (Hogan) Qualls, known to many as ''Mama Jane,'' was a woman defined by fierce love, deep devotion, and boundless warmth. She passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, surrounded by family. She was 88.
Jane was born to Cecil ''Sleepy'' Hogan and Flossie B. Hogan of Morrilton, Arkansas, on September 19, 1937. She grew up working with her mom in the ''beauty shop'' in their home, and she used this skill to help countless people throughout her life.
In 1957, she married Howard Qualls and then became a devoted mother of four children. They moved around a few times due to banking opportunities and eventually landed in Texarkana, Arkansas. There she was a long time member of Beech Street First Baptist Church as well as the May Dale Garden Club. Later in life, she lovingly raised two of her granddaughters: Krystal and Rachel.
To know Mama Jane was to know unconditional love in action. She was famous for Sunday pot roast, love of fashion, a dog on each hip, and always encouraging chocolate and joy in equal measure. Jane had an effortless way of making people feel seen and bridged generations with grace. She loved her three brothers fiercely, treasured her family deeply, and carried stories, especially of loved ones gone before, with reverence and care. She will be remembered for her smile, her resilience, and the way she made the ordinary days feel special. Her love endures ''to the moon and back and all the stars.''
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard, brother John Hogan, sister-in-law Glennette, and daughter-in-law Anita Qualls. She is survived by her four children: Steve (Mona) Qualls of Little Rock, Ark.; Teresa Felix of Mountain Home, Ark.; Barry Qualls of Little Rock, Ark.; and Gregg (LyAnne) Qualls of Little Rock, Ark., as well as brothers: Joe (Gayle) Hogan and Bob Ed (Carol) Hogan. She adored her role as ''Mama Jane'' to four grandchildren: Blake Felix, Krystal (Duncan) Collins, Stephanie (Preston) Korte, and Rachel Qualls. She also loved her two great-grandsons: Mack and Calvin Collins.
The family would like to thank Arolee, Leadry, Marilyn, and Rose with the Visiting Angels, as well as Arkansas Hospice.
